Repaired Heirloom Ring

This was a very risky job from the start. The ring was handed down from the client\'s Mother many years ago. Her Mother, no longer with us, wore the ring regularly. The idea was to keep the original design but make it strong enough and durable enough to handle a very active life style. The original center gemstone turned out to be a genuine white topaz that was badly scratched and chipped. We re-polished the entire gemstone which is risky for a topaz. Then we molded the original ring and made it again in white gold. The original was changed only from a four claw setting to a full bezel setting, another risky operation for a topaz. Lastly, the original filigree ring was laminated onto a new heavy foundation. Not only were we pleased with the results, the client was also. Best of all the client has a cherished memory of her Mother to pass on to her grand-daughter.
