An odd idea hit me while helping my younger son with a school project. He was studying the Saddledome and found that the roof is a sphere with a hyperbolic parabaloid. Sounded good enough to design a ring around. So the top of the shank follows the Saddledome shape but then I built up an edge and added diamonds from Hearts On Fire® 1.14ct in total: a 0.28ct, a 0.41ct and small diamonds pave set. Then I added some more 'organic' touches with pink gold wires on the top. This ring won an Honourable Mention award in the Canadian Jewellers, Excellence in Design Awards Contest 2009 in the Diamonds division.
